FAQ

  • LENS is a gentle, non-invasive EEG-based neurofeedback system that sends an ultra-low-energy, moment-to-moment electromagnetic feedback signal to cue the brain and central nervous system to self-organize more efficiently.

  • Sensors read real-time EEG activity; software identifies the dominant frequency at each site and returns a tiny, ultra-low-energy electromagnetic feedback signal through the same sensors. The intent is to cue the brain’s natural self-correction to restore balance and support nervous-system equilibrium - with no action or effort required from the client.

  • Every brain is unique, but most people benefit from the regulating and restorative effects of Low-Energy Neurofeedback (LENS) and related neurotechnologies. Whether you’re navigating stress, anxiety, sleep issues, focus challenges, or simply looking to perform at a higher level, these approaches work by helping the brain and nervous system communicate more efficiently.

Because the process is non-invasive and tailored to your individual patterns, it’s appropriate for a wide range of goals—from emotional balance and cognitive clarity to recovery and resilience. During your initial consultation, we’ll review your history, goals, and baseline measures to determine if this approach is a good fit for you.

  • Yes—traditional neurofeedback typically uses audio/visual operant conditioning to train a target pattern, whereas LENS delivers micro-level electromagnetic feedback informed by your EEG to prompt rapid self-organization. Journal of Neurotherapy+1

With LENS, there’s no conscious effort, no concentration on tasks, performance, or game-based training required. This means the brain doesn't get as tired with LENS as typically reported with traditional neurofeedback.

Many report the benefits of LENS vs. “traditional” neurofeedback as: faster results, fewer visits overall, shorter session length, a passive, calm & effortless feel, and broader impact.

  • Sessions are brief (often <20 minutes), passive, gentle, and most clients don’t feel the signal itself; you sit comfortably while sensors are placed briefly at multiple scalp sites. We check in during and after to note any changes and tailor future sessions.

Check-in: Review changes since last session and answer questions.

Prep: Clean selected sites with prep gel to remove oils and improve connectivity.

Sensors: Sit comfortably (often eyes closed) while we place two small scalp sensors and two ear clips. The system “listens” to your EEG and returns an ultra-low feedback signal—no needles, shocks, or invasive procedures.

Passive experience: You don’t need to do or focus on anything; the feedback works in the background, guided by your brain’s own signals.

Adjust & plan: We’ll check in during and after, note changes, and tailor upcoming sessions accordingly.m description

  • Many people feel calm, relaxed, clearer, and less stressed shortly after a session; others notice changes over the next 24–48 hours. It’s not uncommon to feel tired as the brain reallocates energy and begins shifting long-standing patterns—temporary fatigue can be a typical sign of adjustment. You might experience brief, localized pressure, heaviness, or mental fatigue; these typically pass and are followed by a greater sense of ease and focus.

There is no downtime, and you should be able to resume your daily activities immediately after your session.

Everyone’s nervous system is unique, so responses vary. We’ll check in with you during and after the session, note any changes, and tailor subsequent sessions to your sensitivity and goals.

  • Each person’s journey is unique and has a distinct set of factors; therefore, it varies from person to person. We encourage clients to start with the intent to complete our 12-session program, spanning about 3 months. This allows the therapy to produce a sustained, cumulative effect and supports looking at trends across different life events rather than individual session outcomes. After your intake and baseline assessment, your clinician will be able to provide a more informed estimate.

    As a guide:

Research shows, and we’ve experienced, that people often notice shifts within a few sessions — especially if their main concerns are around sleep and feeling stressed or lacking regulation.

    • On average, clients complete about 11 sessions.

    • Recent challenges or those with a quick onset: 10-12 sessions help alleviate or improve symptoms.

    • Long-standing, hereditary, complex issues may benefit from around 20 sessions to achieve meaningful transformation.

Individual protocols can be uniquely tailored as needed to fit client needs and desired outcomes. We’ll check in each visit and adjust the plan collaboratively as your brain and nervous system progress.

  • Low-energy neurofeedback (LENS) builds on neuroplasticity—the brain’s natural capacity to adapt—so improvements are typically cumulative and durable, often strengthening across the first series of sessions. Because LENS is passive (no training tasks to “maintain”), many people find their gains are maintained without daily practice.

That said, life is dynamic. New stressors, injuries, or significant changes can nudge the system off balance. If that happens, 1-2 brief booster sessions usually help restore regulation. Regenesis Neuro offers flexible continuity options (e.g., session bundles or prepaid packages) so you can tune the frequency and cost to your needs.

  • Yes. Neurofeedback—especially low-energy approaches like LENS—is widely used for performance optimization, not just symptom relief.

By supporting self-regulation in the brain and nervous system, it has been shown to improve sleep quality, focus, mental clarity, reaction time, stress recovery, decision-making under pressure, increased resilience, decreased burnout, and creative flow—the foundations of reliable high performance.

  • Cognitive reserve is the mind and brain's resistance to damage of the brain.

It refers to the brain’s ability to adapt, compensate, and maintain function even when challenged by aging, injury, or disease. It’s the reason some people can experience measurable brain changes (like those seen in imaging studies or after trauma) but show few or no outward symptoms.

At Regenesis Neuro, supporting cognitive reserve means providing the brain with the resources and stimulation it needs to work smarter, recover faster, and remain resilient over time.

  • Absolutely. At Regenesis Neuro, we believe in the power of Low-energy neurofeedback (LENS)—and complementary neurotechnologies—however, we also believe in the benefits of integrating our services with other therapies, such as, but not limited to: therapy, psychiatry, physical/occupational therapy, mindfulness, and performance coaching to create a more holistic, durable outcome. These combinations address both neurological regulation (the brain and nervous system) and behavioral/emotional components simultaneously.

To keep care safe and effective, we ask that you proactively share with your neurofeedback clinician about any concurrent therapies, treatments, or medications.

  • YES! Please see our referral provider list!

  • When a team or organization moves through LENS on a similar cadence, outcomes compound—gains stabilize more quickly, efficiency increases, burnout decreases, and collaboration improves across the system.

*Sessions are delivered individually—each person gets their own experience.
